Alex is the Founder of Ten Eleven Ventures, the industry’s original venture capital fund that is focused solely on investing in digital security. Underneath the digital security umbrella, the firm invests globally and is stage agnostic, working as KKR’s joint investment alliance partner for stages growth and later. Since our founding in 2015 Ten Eleven has raised $500m across four funds, made over 15 investments including Darktrace, Digital Shadows, Jask.io, Twistlock and Verodin and achieved 3 exits in Ping Identity (Vista), Hexadite (Microsoft) and Cylance (BlackBerry).

The founding of Ten Eleven brought together the breadth of experiences in finance, investing, software and security operating roles in Silicon Valley. The cornerstone being his role as a co-founder in 2002 of PGP Corporation that combined the vision for a new security company with the secure email standard OpenPGP. Alex was the critical business architect of the hybrid structure that combined an innovation-led startup with the buyout of assets from Network Associates (McAfee). He served as founding board member, CFO/VP Business Development, was a vital member of the executive team as it pioneered the encryption and data protection marketplaces, concluding in 2010 as the COO when it was purchased by Symantec.

After PGP Corp. he continued his involvement with security companies as an angel investor, independent director, entrepreneur-in-residence at Khosla Ventures, and security deal team consultant to private equity firm KKR. These simultaneous stage agnostic security experiences were formative to the unique Ten Eleven investment strategy.

Alex also worked at Embark (The Princeton Review), PeopleSoft, OneID and was an investment banker with Robertson, Stephens & Co.

Alex received his MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s Management & Technology program with a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the Moore School and a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School.

Mark has led investments in early stage technology companies in a variety of roles since 2003 and has developed a particular passion for security, driven by the size and significance of the problem.

Most recently Mark was a partner at Fairhaven Capital where he led investments in Cylance, CounterTack, Celtra, and Trust Digital (acquired by McAfee). He also served as a board member of Co3 Systems and Digital Guardian.

Prior to Fairhaven Capital, Mark was a Managing Director for Motorola Ventures, and ran the West Coast Operations in Sunnyvale. There he led investments in Danger (acquired by Microsoft), Foundstone (acquired by McAfee), Lumidigm (acquired by HID Global), SkyBitz (acquired by Telular) and Mesh Networks (acquired by Motorola).

Mark also previously headed up Strategy and Business Development for Motorola’s CIO and IT organization. Previously, Mark held various Corporate Business Development and IT roles at Bell Canada Enterprises and the Bank of Montreal in Toronto, Canada.

Mark received his MBA from York University and earned a Bachelor’s degree from McMaster University in Canada.

Mark lives in Boston, with his wife and two children. He loves skiing out of bounds and fly fishing, but still needs a lot of work to be called a true fisherman.

Brian has held senior executive roles and been an internal and external legal and business advisor to technology companies and venture funds for the last twenty years with a particular emphasis on data privacy issues and cyber security solutions.

Brian began his career working with early stage technology companies and venture funds in the Palo Alto office of Cooley and then moved in-house where he served as General Counsel, Chief Privacy Officer, and Chief Administration Officer for security and software companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, including PGP Corporation, Scale Eight, Reputation.com, OneID, Euclid Analytics, and Ionic Security.

Most recently, Brian served as General Counsel for Techstars, overseeing the legal function for both Techstars’ operating business and Techstars Ventures, its venture capital arm.  Brian built the systems, process, staffing and compliance infrastructure to enable Techstars to operate forty accelerator programs annually in twelve countries with investments in 1,500+ active portfolio company graduates.  In addition to overseeing all compliance and legal issues while at Techstars, Brian was an active mentor and advisor within the Techstars ecosystem, providing guidance on legal issues and scalability challenges.

Brian received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and graduated cum laude from the University of Puget Sound.  As recent transplants to Colorado, Brian and his wife are enjoying all the outdoor activities that the Rocky Mountains have to offer and are trying to their best to stay ahead of their two boys on the ski slopes.
