Tim Newberry

Founder, BlackHorse Solutions

Tim has been a security entrepreneur, operator and engineer with strong roots in the National Security community for more than 20 years. 

In 2017, Tim founded BlackHorse Solutions, a Ten Eleven portfolio company that was sold to Parsons in 2021. He supports several other national security advanced technology firms as an investor and advisor. Before working in the private sector, Tim spent eight years on active duty as a Naval Officer in the Submarine community as a nuclear engineer. His US Navy time included time teaching at the Naval Academy, submarine patrols in the Pacific, and a deployment to Iraq.

Tim received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy, graduating with Merit, and earned a Master’s in Engineering Management from the Catholic University of America. Tim has also been an Adjunct Professor in the University of North Carolina academic community, teaching Master’s level cybersecurity coursework. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the McCrary Institute for Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Security at Auburn University.

Tim currently lives in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife and three children, spending time on the Chesapeake Bay and juggling various children’s sporting events. He is also a committed volunteer, helping high-performing military personnel transition out of service.
